How to Play

Play Spice Quest online for free. Spice Quest is a 10-stage level destruction game where you lay down explosive spice barrels which blow up adjacent cells to clear a path to a golden peri peri spice jar at the end of the level. Find all 3 hidden gems on every level to unlock a surprise. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Click on the blue and white button at the bottom center of the game’s welcome screen.
- This will bring up the level select screen.
- On your first play only the first level is unlocked. Subsequent levels are unlocked as you beat each level.
- Your web browser automatically stores your level progress and spice collection for each of the 10 levels.
- The welcome screen also contains sound control and how to play buttons in the upper right corner.
- Game Controls

    - Tap on a square you want to lay a spice barrel.
    - Repeat the process until you have cleared a path to the finish.
    - Touchscreen devices
      - Use your finger like a mouse.
      - Game Play
        Barrel Placement
        When your barrel blows up it can blow up a couple squares away up, down, left and right.
        Your barrel blowing up can cause other nearby spice pots to blow up in a chain reaction.
        If a chain reaction can head in multiple directions consider the most optimal place to lay your barrel.
        Barrel Timing
        In some of the later stages of the game concrete columns rise and fall.
        When they are in the up position they block the explosive path.
        Complex scenarios
        You may need to time your barrel exploding, then exploding a spice pot, then that detonating another spice pot, then that destroying bricks.
        You may also need to time placing your barrel between two spice pots which have concrete columns near them moving at a different cadence.
        You may need to set a barrel near a concrete column to have it draw the first hit on a block while also having its explosion path hit a spice barrel which then blows up and takes out the block by hitting it a second time.
        Dealing with complex scenarios
        If getting all 3 gems is particularly frustrating on a level then play through other levels and come back to the one you couldn’t easily complete the first time around.
        Play the most complex part of the level first in order to get it out of the way so that you only have the easy parts left when you are done. Be sure you do not clear a full path to the exit before getting all 3 gems or else you’ll have to play it again.
        The more complex the path the greater the odds of success being driven in part by luck, so be willing to use the pause button to bring up the game menu and restart the level if you miss on the hard parts.
        Hidden Gems
        Each level has 3 hidden gems in it.
        You can beat the level without clearing the gems, though you need to find all 3 gems to score a 3-star rating on the level.
        Be careful not to complete the path from entrance to the peri peri spice at the end prematurely, as when the path has been completed the level ends even if you still have spice barrels left.
        Target Audience
        The game is suited for logic puzzle fans of all ages.
        The game is quite easy for just about anyone to beat without getting all the gems.
        Collecting all the gems significantly increases the difficulty level, providing challenge for older seasoned gamers.
        The game has no adult themed content.
